Michael Jones, a graduate of our Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education K-6/ESOL (MAT), was recently awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study teaching practices in Laos over the next 10 months to determine which are most effective in that nation and why. Before he leaves, Michael will visit our campus on Monday, 6/25 and address students, graduates and faculty at Johnathan’s Cafe at 3:00 pm. Michael graduated from New College with a degree in psychology and political science and then went on to graduate with a master’s degree in teaching at USFSM. Since 2007, Michael has taught in Thailand, Cambodia and Florida. In 2011, Jones founded Open Equal Free, a nonprofit Internet-based organization that seeks to make basic materials about teaching strategies, suitable for use worldwide, accessible at no cost to schools. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to listen to Michael address education in rural, third world settings, Fulbright awar ds and teaching, and Open Education Resources and TeachBuzz lesson plans.
