For the opportunity to live in Venice and work in higher education.

What special projects/research are you involved in?

Currently I am on a Planning Committee for Leadership North Port.  Leadership North Port is an initiative involving selected participants who are connected to the community in some way.  The mission is:  To create a place where leadership skills and community resources can be applied to inspire individuals to become a leader in the North Port.

Leadership NP will meet each month February through November for a full day of presentations and tours by local government and business leaders.  I am working to help plan and facilitate four half-day trainings on leadership skills.

If you were selling USFSM to an incoming student what would you say?

USFSM is a small personalized community with huge credentials.

How has USFSM made you a better professional/person?

USFSM is a respectful environment that embraces the community.  While my students and the classes I teach are my main priority; I have been inspired to get involved in the community.  I recognize the importance of service and feel I have developed a lifelong commitment to it.

What are some of your goals for the future?

To publish a journal article about the importance of the integration of arts and education.

What is the best part of USFSM?

The students!  We have both traditional and non-traditional students, all who are dedicated and hard-working.  Helping them fulfill their dreams of a college degree is most rewarding.
